The Savannah Area Military
Officers Association (SAMOA) is the local affiliate
of the national organization, the Military Officers
Association of America (MOAA). The chapter was
chartered March 15, 1963, and has been in continuous
operation since that date. The chapter is also
affiliated with the Georgia Military Officers
Association. Currently, the chapter has over
200 members who reside in Savannah as well as
in the counties surrounding Savannah. All branches
of the uniformed services are represented and
members include commissioned and warrant officers
who are retired, on active duty, or are members
of the National Guard and Reserve and former
commissioned and warrant officers.

Chapter activities include monthly business/social
dinner meetings with the exception of June,
July and August which are luncheon meetings.
Included in our social activities are our Annual
Member Appreciation and our Christmas
Dinner/Dance. In general, we meet either at
the Hunter AAF Club or other area restaurants.
On occasion, we participate in joint activities
with other MOAA Chapters and local military
associations. We publish a newsletter 12 times
a year coinciding with our meetings and highlighting
events and important information affecting all
MOAA members. This newsletter is sent to all
members prior to each scheduled meeting or event.
The Savannah Area Chapter supports the goals
and objectives of MOAA through contact with
it's elected officials. The chapter also participates
in various projects and activities in support
of the local community.
